Illegal extraction and transportation of minerals; Police arrests 11 persons, seizes 13 vehicles in Budgam & Awantipora

Budgam & Awantipora, April 14:  Acting tough against the persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, Police have arrested 11 persons and seized 13 vehicles in Budgam & Awantipora.

A police party of Police Station Budgam during patrolling at Mirgund Crossing arrested 04 persons and seized 06 vehicles (tippers) involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals. The arrested drivers were subsequently identified as Mohd Ayoub Dar son of Ghulam Hassan Dar & Nazir Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Ahmad Dar residents of Patwaw Budgam, Adil Ahmad Lone son of Bashir Ahmad Lone resident of Huroo Budgam & Firdous Ahmad Pal son of Bashir Ahmad Pal resident of Sheikhpora Budgam.

In Awantipora, a Police party headed by SHO Police Station Awantipora under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora Shri Mumtaz Ali Bhatti-JKPS have arrested 05 persons and seized five vehicles (tippers) involved in illegal extraction of sand at Aghanjipora   and Hatiwara. Similarly, a Police party headed by Incharge Police Post Reshipora have arrested 02 persons and seized two vehicles (01 Loader, 01 tipper) involved in illegal extraction of sand at Datpora Dogripora.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and further investigation has been initiated.

Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.

Police arrests 03 drug peddlers; Contraband substances recovered

Absconding notorious drug peddler arrested in Kulgam

Kulgam , April 12: In a continuous crackdown against drug dealings and to tighten the nose of drug peddlers, Police have arrested 03 drug peddlers in Baramulla & Kulgam and recovered psychotropic substance from their possession. Besides, an absconding notorious drug peddler who was evading his arrest from last 03 years has been arrested in Kulgam.

A Police party of PS Baramulla during patrolling at Janbazpora Baramulla arrested 02 drug peddlers identified as Mohd Arif Magray son of Mohd Ayoub Magray resident of Chakloo & Sameer Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Hamid resident of Janbazpora.

During search, 143 banned capsules (SPS PHEN Plus) were recovered from their possession. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Baramulla and investigation has been initiated.

In Kulgam, a police party of PS Devsar at a checkpoint established at Chambgund Crossing, intercepted a suspicious person carrying a polythene bag who on noticing police party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. He has been identified as Rayees Ahmad Mir son of Mohammad Rajab Mir resident of Malwan. During search, officers were able to recover 05 Kgs of Grinded Cannabis and 110 grams of Charas from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Regarding the incident, a case vide FIR No. 36/2023 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Devsar and investigation has been initiated.

Meanwhile, Police have arrested an absconder who was evading his arrest and was involved in case FIR No. 292/2020 of Police Station Qazigund. Acting promptly following an information regarding his presence, a special police party from Police Station Qazigund led by SHO Qazigund raided the specified location at Khargund, Kulgam and arrested the absconding notorious drug peddler namely Gulzar Ahmad Lone son of Ghulam Hassan Lone resident of Khargund who was evading his arrest from last three years. He has been shifted to Police Station Qazigund where he remains in custody.

It is pertinent to mention here that he was the main kingpin of supplying the drugs especially among the youth of Kulgam.

Police arrests fraudster in Baramulla

Baramulla, April 08: Police in Baramulla arrested a fraudster involved in selling fake Gondola Tickets in Gulmarg Baramulla.

Police Station Gulmarg received a written complaint from Manager Gulmarg Gondola Project wherein he stated that a ticket checker caught 2 tourists with a fake gondola ticket.  On enquiry, the tourists stated that tourist guide has sold them these tickets at a cost of Rs. 2500/- per ticket.

Accordingly, a case was registered under relevant sections of law in Police Station Gulmarg and investigation was initiated.  

During the course of investigation and after strenuous efforts, a tourist guide namely Aashiq Hussain Magray son of Ab Rashid Magray resident of Shrai Tangmarg involved in the commission of crime was arrested. During investigation, it was revealed by the fraudster that their modus operandi is to pre-book gondola tickets and then sell them to gullible tourists at exorbitant rates.

Police arrests 08 gamblers in Kulgam, stake money seized

Kulgam, April 01: Acting tough against the social crimes, Police in Kulgam have arrested 08 gamblers and seized stake money from their possession.
Acting on specific information regarding gambling in the jurisdiction of PP Mirbazar, a police party led by Incharge PP Mirbazar raided the suspected gambling site at Palpora and apprehended 8 gamblers on the spot. They have been identified as Mohd Yousuf Malla son of Ghulam Mohammad Malla resident of Kawaki Bazar Qaimoh, Nasir Ahmad Ganie son of Mohd Rafiq Ganie and Umar Hammid Wani son of Abdul Hammid Wani, both residents of Furrah, Mudasir Ahmad Rather son of Abdul Rashid Rather resident of Waghama Bijbehara, Bilal Ahmad Mir son of Mohd Ismail Mir and Nisar Ahmad Khanday son of Mohd Afzal Khanday both residents of Bumthan, Nisar Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Hassan Mir resident of Zadoora and Tariq Ahmad Matoo son of Ghulam Mohammad Matoo resident of Gangipora.
Officers have also seized stake money of ₹50,000/- 08 mobile phones and a set of playing cards from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Qazigund and further investigation has been initiated.
Persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.

Police arrests 08 miscreants at Nowshera Boniyar Baramulla

Baramulla, March 30: Police in Baramulla have arrested 08 miscreants involved in disturbing law & order at Nowshera Boniyar to aid a notorious drug smuggler who was booked under PIT-NDPS Act.

On 29/03/2023, some miscreants of village Nowshera Boniyar blocked national highway at Nowshera for about 2 hours and disturbed law and order to aid a drug smuggler namely Tauqeer Ahmad Magray son of Bashir Ahmad Magray resident of Nowshera Baramulla who was detained under PIT NDPS Act and lodged in Central Jail Kot Balwal Jammu.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Boniyar and investigation was taken up.

During the preliminary course of investigation, Police utilizing all technical and human intelligence identified these miscreants and arrested all the accused persons involved in commission of crime. They have been identified as Riyaz Ahmad son of Mohd Mukhtar Mir, Mashood Yasin Mir son of Mohd Yasin Mir, Ghulam Rasool Sofi son of Abdul Gafoor Sofi, Showkat Ahmad son of Abdul Gaffar, Tasleem Ahmad son of Ali Mohammad, Parvez Ahmad son of Abdul Aziz, Manzoor Ahmad son of Ali Mohamad and Abdul Majeed Naikoo son of Abdul Rehman all residents of Village Nowshera. They have been shifted to PS where they remain in custody.

Police solves theft case in Budgam; 04 accused arrested

Stolen property worth lacs recovered

Budgam, March 28: Police in Budgam have solved a theft case by arresting 04 accused persons involved in the commission of crime and recovered stolen property worth lacs from their possession.

On 01/02/2023, Police Station Magam received a written complaint from one person namely Jameel Jamsheed Magray son of Abdul Ahad Magray resident of Batpora Kanihama stating therein that during the intervening night of 31st Jan-1st Feb-2023, some unknown thieves have stolen iron rods weighing about 93 Quintals lying outside his Iron and Cement store titled MS Magray Cement Store at Batpora Kanihama.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR number 13/2023 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Magam and investigation was initiated.

During the course of investigation, officers with the help of technical evidences zeroed in on one suspect identified as Muzzaffar Ahmad Khatana son of Mohammad Rafiq Khatana resident of Peerah Ramban. During sustained questioning, he disclosed that he along with 11 accomplices have stolen Iron bars weighing around 93 Quintals from Batpora Crossing and have used five vehicles including 04 trucks and a Santro Car in the commission of crime. He also disclosed that they have sold the stolen property to a scrap dealer at Batote Ramban.

Subsequently, the scrap dealer was arrested in the instant case and the stolen property (93 quintals of iron bars) were recovered.

So far four accused persons have been arrested in the instant case besides, a truck bearing registration number JK14B-1095 used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

The other arrested persons have been identified as Sadiq Hussain son of Azeem Bakarwal, Mohammad Irfan Bokra son of Abdul Aziz Bokra, both residents of Peerah Ramban, Mohammad Mughal Bokra son of Abdul Rasheed Bokra resident of Samba Jammu. Efforts are on to nab the absconding accused persons.

Investigation of the case is still going on.

Police arrests 07 drug peddlers in Baramulla; Contraband substances, cash recovered

Baramulla, March 28: Acting tough against drug dealings, Police in Baramulla have arrested 07 drug peddlers including a lady drug peddler in various actions and recovered contraband substances & cash from their possession.

A police party of PS Sheeri at a checkpoint established at Sheeri Market arrested three (03) drug peddlers identified as Zubair Ahmad Pandith son of Mohd Hayat Pandith resident of Gantamulla Payeen, Waheed Bashir Lone son of Bashir Ahmad Lone & Mushtaq Ahmad Lone son of Ali Mohd Lone, both residents of Fatehgarh Sheeri. During search, 63 grams of Brown Sugar was recovered from their possession. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

In another similar action, a police party at a checkpoint established at Boniyar intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK05L-3829 with four (04) persons on board. They have been identified as Ikhlaq Mir son of Ahmad Mir, Kabir Ahmad Awan son of Muzaffar Ahmad, both residents of Daragutliyan, Abdul Qayoom Khan son of Sarfaraz Ahmad resident of Bela Salamabad and Muneeba Younis daughter of Mohammad Younis Sudan resident of Uranbowa. During search, 60 grams of Heroin and cash amount of ₹50,000/-(proceeds of narcotic crime) was recovered from their possession. They have been arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.  

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.

Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.

Police solves theft case in Shopian, accused arrested

Shopian, March 27: Police in Shopian have solved a theft case within hours by arresting an accused person involved in the commission of crime and recovered stolen property.

On 27-03-2023, Police Station Zainapora received a written complaint from one person namely Faroq Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Ahmad Bhat resident of Niklora stating therein that his personal Mobile phone has been stolen from his Hardware shop at Zainapora. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No.20/2023 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Zainapora and investigation was initiated.

During the course of investigation, one suspect identified as Rafee Ahmad Sheikh son of Mohamad Ayoub resident of Zainapora was called for questioning in the instant case and he confessed his involvement in the commission of crime. On his disclosure, Stolen Mobile phone and a cash amount of ₹41000, which was illegally withdrawn by the said accused through MPay have also been recovered. Subsequently, he has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Police solves burglary case in Baramulla, 2 accused arrested

Baramulla, March 26: Police in Baramulla have solved a burglary case by arresting 02 accused persons involved in the commission of crime and recovered stolen property from their possession.

On 25th March 2023, Police Post Palhallan received a complaint from one person namely Ishfaq Ahmad Sheikh son of Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh resident of Tantraypora Palhallan, Pattan stating therein that during intervening nights of 24th and 25th March-2023 some unknown burglars entered into his residential house and stole copper utensils. In this regard, a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Pattan and investigation was initiated.

During the course of investigation, with the help of technical and human resources, the investigating officers zeroed in on some suspects, one among them namely Khursheed Ahmad Waza son of Ghulam Mohd Waza resident of Tantraypora Palhallan confessed that he alongwith other accomplice identified as Tanveer Ahmad Reshi son of Ghulam Mohd Reshi resident of New Colony Palpora Pattan have committed the theft. Subsequentially, accused Tanveer Ahmad was also arrested for his involvement in the commission of crime.

On their disclosure, stolen property was recovered from their possession. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Police solves 02 burglary cases in Baramulla; Stolen properties recovered

Baramulla, March 25: Police have solved 02 burglary cases in Baramulla and arrested the accused persons involved in the commission of crime. Besides, recovered stolen properties from their possession.

On 24/03/2023, Police Station Kreeri received a complaint from Bashir Ahmad Wani son of Gh Hassan Wani resident of Kreeri Baramulla stating therein that during Friday prayers, some unknown burglars have entered his shop and stole cash of about ₹30,000/-.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Kreeri and investigation was initiated.

During the course of investigation, taking help of technical and human resources, names of some suspects surfaced. Among the suspects, Syed Zaffar Shah son of Syed Muzaffar Shah resident of Yakhmanpora Pattan was called for questioning. During questioning, he confessed the crime and, on his disclosure, stolen cash was recovered.

Meanwhile in another similar incident, a police party of PP Palhallan received a complaint on 23/12/2022 from one Bashir Ahmad Yatoo son of Gh Mohd Yatoo resident of Yadipora Pattan stating therein that during intervening night of 22-23/12/2022, some unknown burglars broke open the lock of his shop and stole tea bags, cigarette boxes etc.

Regarding the incident, a case vide FIR No. 340/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered and investigation was initiated.

During the course of investigation, with the help of technical and human resources, investigating officers zeroed in on one suspect identified as Faizan Ahmad Gojri @Pita son of Mohd Ramzan Gojri resident of Gojri Mohalla Palhallan. During questioning, officers learnt about his involvement in the commission of crime. On his disclosure, stolen property was recovered.

Both the accused have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody.
