Jammu, September 7 : The Jammu and Kashmir Government has appointed Dr Twinkle Suri, Principal and Dean Academic Affairs at Cluster University of Jammu, as the new Director Colleges, J&K.
According to Government Order No. 305-JK(HE) of 2026, issued by the Higher Education Department on Monday, Dr Suri has been transferred and posted as Director Colleges with immediate effect.
The appointment has been made on the recommendation of the Selection Committee constituted under Government Order No. 475-JK(GAD) of 2021, following its meeting held on August 5, 2026. The appointment has also received the approval of the competent authority.
With Dr Suri taking charge, Dr Sheikh Ajaz Bashir, Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), has been relieved of the additional charge of Director Colleges, J&K.
As per the government order, Dr Suri’s tenure will be for two years, extendable by another year, subject to satisfactory performance, work and conduct. The department may also undertake a fresh selection for the post.
The Administrative Department has further retained the right to terminate the tenure before its completion if the incumbent’s performance, work or conduct is found unsatisfactory, after providing an opportunity of being heard.
The order was issued by Ram Niwas Sharma, IAS, Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, Higher Education Department, J&K, on September 7, 2026.
