Bukhari condoles demise of Molvi Imran Ansari’s grandmother

Srinagar, December 4: Apni Party President Syed Mohammed Altaf Bukhari today extended his heartfelt condolences to Senior General Secretary of JKPC and President of All J&K Shia Association, Molvi Imran Raza Ansari on the demise of his grandmother.

Bukhari accompanied by senior Apni Party leaders, including General Secretary Rafi Ahmed Mir, Provincial President Kashmir Mohammed Ashraf Mir, and others visited the residence of Molvi Imran Ansari’s grandmother Begum Syed Ali in Hassanabad.

Expressing solidarity with the bereaved family, Altaf Bukhari conveyed his deepest sympathies to Molvi Imran Raza Ansari, Alhaj Abid Hussain Ansari, Syed Altaf Hamdani and other family members.

Bukhari prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and offered courage to the family to bear this irreparable loss. The visit was marked by a solemn atmosphere, as the leaders paid their respects and shared moments of grief with the grieving family. Bukhari was joined by party delegation, including Junaid Azim Mattu, former Mayor of Srinagar Municipal Corporation, State Secretary Muntazir Mohiuddin, Provincial Secretary Najeeb Naqvi, and other prominent members.

Molvi Imran Raza Ansari bereaved

Srinagar, December 3: Wife of Syed Ali Hamdani, passed away after a brief illness at her residence at Rainawrai Hassan Abad, Srinagar on Sunday.

She was maternal grandmother of President, Jammu and Kashmir Shia Association Molvi Imran Raza Ansari and Irfan Raza Ansari. The deceased was also mother-in-law of Dr. Wajid Ali and paternal aunty of Joint Commissioner SMC, Syed Abul Qasim Hamdani.

People from all walks of life participated in her Nimaz-e-Jinaza which were led by Aga Syed Abid Hussain Hussaini Hamdani and offered their condolences to the bereaved family. She was laid to rest at her ancestral graveyard Rainawari Hassan Abad, Srinagar.

She is survived by her children including Syed Altaf Hamdani, Syed Maqbool Hamdani, Syed Sarwar Hamdani, Syed Iqbal Hamdani and two daughters.

She was mother-in-law of late Molvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari.

Valley Observer team held a condolence meeting and expressed sympathy with the bereaved family.

Lt Governor Hosts ‘High Tea’ for Players of Legends League Cricket

JAMMU, NOVEMBER 28: The Lieutenant Governor, Shri Manoj Sinha hosted a ‘High Tea’ for the renowned International players participating in Legends League Cricket matches, at the Raj Bhawan.

While interacting with the Cricketers, the Lt Governor said the entire Union Territory of Jammu Kashmir is proud and excited about the matches being held at MA Stadium. He said: “This is the first major international Cricket event for the UT after several decades and a beginning of new sporting era for Jammu Kashmir.

These matches featuring International Cricket stars will not only help us to achieve excellence in organising international sporting events but also popularize a robust sports culture in the masses, especially among the youth”.

The Lt Governor said over the next three days, Jammu Kashmir will celebrate and honour sporting excellence, dedication and commitment of the cricketers in the playing field and players will get an opportunity to enjoy UT’s hospitality, and incredible culture of J&K during their stay.

The Lt Governor said: “This tournament is also an occasion to uphold the values of Cricket game, which seeks to promote peace, excellence, respect, friendship and unity. In every respect, Jammu Kashmir echoes and reinforces these ideals and developing a thriving sporting culture.

The power of sports to bring peace and unity is extraordinary and I am sure your presence will influence and inspire the young generation to discover their true calling to shape a new future”.

The Lt Governor congratulated the players including Chris Gayle, Harbhajan Singh, Suresh Raina, Praveen Kumar, Thisara Perera, Stuart Binny and extended his best wishes to the teams for the remaining matches.

Majlis Ayaam-e-Fatimeya (SA) Commemorated at Imam Bargah Durbal Bemina

Srinagar: Glowing tributes were paid to Hazrat Fatima Zehra (SA) during the poignant Majlis Ayaam-e-Fatimeya (SA) at the revered Imam Bargah Durbal, Bemina here on Tuesday.

A day-long Majlis was organised by the J&K Shia Association. Thousands of mourners thronged the Imambara Bemina, where they recited the Holy Quran. It was followed by Marsiya by the prominent Zakirs of the Association.

President JKSA Molvi Imran Raza Ansari presided over the Majlis. On the occasion Molvi Imran shed light on the unparalleled significance of Lady Fatima (SA) and her profound contributions to Islam.

In his sermon, Molvi Imran highlighted the uniqueness of Lady Fatima (SA) as the “lady of the light” and emphasized her exemplary life as a role model for Muslim women. Ansari expressed, “Without Fatima (SA), the mission of the Prophet (PBUH) would have remained incomplete. Her husband, sons, and daughters dedicated themselves to serving Islam, offering sacrifices, and facing persecution to uphold the true tenets of Islam against hostile regimes.”

Furthermore, Molvi Imran offered prayers for the reconstruction of Bibi Fatima’s shrine, demolished in Saudi Arabia around 1925, urging for the restoration of this sacred site.

The Majlis concluded with tears and wails from the devoted attendees, reflecting the deep emotional connection to the legacy of Lady Fatima (SA) and the sacrifices endured by her family for the sake of Islam.

Police busts marriage scam in Baramulla, two fraudsters arrested

Baramulla, November 23: In a significant breakthrough, Police in Baramulla have successfully arrested 02 persons involved in a marriage scam, following a complaint filed by Gh Mohammad Bhat, a resident of Dessa Doda.
Police Post Mirgund received an application from Ghulam Mohammad Bhat son of Mohammad Shareef Bhat resident of Dessa Doda A/P Srinagar, stating therein that he has been fraudulently cheated by one person namely Mohd Qasim Bhat son of Gh Mohammad Bhat resident of Gund Ibrahim, Trikolbal Pattan, on the pretext of marriage and has paid an amount of about Rs 1,50,000/- to the said fraudster. Furthermore, the victim alleged that when he sought the recovery of the amount, the accused person Mohd Qasim Bhat resorted to intimidation and threats of dire consequences.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Pattan and investigation was set into motion.
During the course of investigation, a police party of the Police Post Mirgund, through rigorous efforts, successfully tracked down and arrested the primary accused Mohd Qasim Bhat. Moreover, his accomplice brother, namely Nisar Ahmad Bhat, was also apprehended in connection with the case. Both accused persons have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Further investigation into the matter is ongoing, and the police encourage individuals who may have fallen victim to similar scams to come forward and report such incidents to the nearest police station.

LG congratulates Para Archers from the UT of J&K for their achievement at Asian Para Archery Championships 2023, Bangkok

JAMMU, NOVEMBER 23: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha congratulated the Para Archers from the UT of J&K for their incredible achievement at Asian Para Archery Championships 2023, Bangkok.

The Lt Governor tweeted:

“What an incredible achievement! Para archers from J&K scripted history & brought glory to India by winning 6 Medals including 4 gold, 1 silver & 1 bronze at Para Asian Archery Championship, Thailand. The consistent performances of our Archers reflect hard work & perseverance.

The outstanding performances of Sheetal, Rakesh and Sarita after admirable achievement at Asian Para Games, exemplify true spirit of sportsmanship. This is just the beginning of a new sporting era. My best wishes to all the athletes for their future endeavours”.

The Para Archers – Ms Sheetal Devi, Sh Rakesh Kumar and Ms Sarita are trained at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Sports Complex, Katra.

Lt Governor reviews Power supply situation in Jammu Kashmir

JAMMU, NOVEMBER 23: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha today chaired a review meeting on the overall Power supply situation in the UT of Jammu Kashmir.

The meeting was attended by Dr Arun Kumar Mehta, Chief Secretary; Sh. H. Rajesh Prasad, Principal Secretary, Power Development Department; Sh Santosh D Vaidya, Principal Secretary Finance Department; Dr Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Principal Secretary to Lt Governor and other senior officials.

Detailed discussions took place on various aspects to meet the high electricity demand in both Kashmir and Jammu Division.

During the meeting, the Lt Governor asked the Principal Secretary, Power Development Department, H. Rajesh Prasad for strict compliance of curtailment plans, uninterrupted and quality power in 100% smart metered feeders and timely replacement of damaged transformers to avoid any inconvenience to the people. He said the team on the ground must closely monitor the situation and take proactive actions to meet the peak electricity demand.

The Lt Governor also took appraisal of the status of the installation of smart meters, manpower and power infrastructure.

Dir Colleges flags-off contingent of students for “College on Wheels Journey”

SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 18: The initiative of Higher Education council Jammu and Kashmir Gyanodaya Express or College on Wheels launched from Jammu University is a historic step towards transfmative and project based learning.

In this connection a contingent of 140 students and 19 Faculty Mentors was flagged off from Amar Singh College by Director Colleges Prof. Yasmeen Ashai in presence of Prof. Sheikh Ajaz Bashir Principal Amar Singh College and Nodal Principal Kashmir Division Colleges and Principals from Colleges where from students are participating.

The students will board the special train from Katra on 19th November and this special journey of more than 700 students and 100 teachers will be given a flag off by Honorable LG in presence of Prof. Dinesh Singh Vice Chairman State Higher Education council, Honorable Vice chancellors and senior officers of Higher Education Department.

The special journey will be for fourteen days and students will visit institutions of National and Historical Importance.

The student contingent of 140 has been selected through a transparent process from affiliating Colleges of Kashmir University. They are from all 10 districts and from majority of Colleges. The projects that they will work on during the train journey are of multi / trans-discplinary nature.

This educational journey is inspired by the concept and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi who believed that Education is as much outside the classrooms as much as it is inside classrooms.

Police arrests notorious lady drug peddler in Baramulla;3 drug peddlers arrested in Kulgam

Baramulla, November 08: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 04 drug peddlers in Baramulla & Kulgam including a notorious lady drug peddler and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

Police Station Boniyar received reliable information regarding presence of contraband in a residential house at Trikanjan Boniyar. Accordingly, a police party of Police Station Boniyar headed by SHO PS Boniyar under the supervision of SDPO Uri raided the said house. During search, 60 grams of Heroin was recovered from the possession of a lady identified as Farhat Begum @Fancy wife of Rayees Ahmad Khan resident of Trikanjan Boniyar. She has been arrested and shifted to PS Boniyar where she remains in custody.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Boniyar & investigations has been initiated.

Meanwhile in Kulgam, a police party headed by IC PP Mirbazar at a checkpoint established at Katran Crossing intercepted a vehicle (Bolero) bearing Registration no. PB10DH-0600 with three persons on board. They have been identified as Malkit Singh son of Sukhdev Singh resident of Kalar Chogawan Amritsar, Malkit Singh son of Joginder Singh resident of Kotla doom, Amritsar and Rouf Ahmad Ahanger son of Mohd Ramzan Ahanger resident of Katran, Bumthan. During search, officers were able to recover 3.2Kgs of Poppy Straw like contraband substance from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 253/2023 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Qazigund and investigation is in progress.

People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law.

Dr Yasmeen Ashai gets one year extension as Director Colleges

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has extended the tenure of Dr Yasmeen Ashai’s as Director Colleges in the Higher Education Department J&K for a period of one year.

The extension vide Government Order No. 310-JK(HE) of 2023, dated 03/11/2023, was issued by Alok Kumar, the Principal Secretary of the Higher Education Department, J&K.

“Sanction is hereby accorded to the extension of tenure of Dr Yasmeen Ashai as Director Colleges, HED, J&K for a period of one year from the date her last tenure as Director Colleges has expired or till further orders, whichever is earlier, on the same terms and conditions laid down in Government Order No. 248-JK(HE) of 2021, dated 04-08-2021”, the government order reads.
