Police arrests a man impersonating as CBI officer in Baramulla

Baramulla, November 05 : Police in Baramulla have arrested a man who was impersonating as a CBI Officer and recovered household items and fake ID cards from his possession.

Police Station Kunzer received a written complaint from Farooq Ahmad Wani of Wassun Bangil, highlighted a sequence of events involving a group of individuals namely Javeed Ahmed Rather, Anjuman Afreen, Aaqib Ahmad Wani and Rafeeq Ahmad Wani. Further the complainant said that Javeed Ahmed Rather presented himself as a CBI officer to the complainant, brandishing a falsified CBI identification card and assured the complainant of securing a placement for their child at the NDA. As the situation unfolded, the accused individuals resorted to theft, absconding with various household items, including a geyser, bedsheet, inverter, CCTV camera, LCD, and other valuables from the complainant’s residence. Furthermore, the complainant was allegedly defrauded of a substantial sum amounting to 40 Lac rupees.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kunzer and investigation was started.

Prompt action by the police team of Police Station Kunzer led to the arrest of the accused posing as a CBI officer with recovery of falsified documents, including the purported CBI card and some stolen house items was also recovered from accused house.

Community members are requested not to fall prey in the hands of such fraudulent people and share such information with Police. Our consistent action against anti-social elements shall assure community members that Police has resolved to act tough against such inimical elements.

Women gang of pickpockets busted in Ganderbal; stolen money recovered

Ganderbal, October 29: To eradicate the menace of social crimes from the society, Police in Ganderbal have busted women gang of pickpockets & recovered stolen cash from their possession.

During the past few days, Police Station Kangan has been receiving inputs from different sources that a gang of a few notorious persons is roaming in the jurisdiction of PS Kangan & picking pockets of innocent people, especially in the area of Sub District Hospital Kangan.

On the directions of SSP Ganderbal, a special Police team was constituted led by SHO PS Kangan under the supervision of SDPO Kangan. Acting swiftly, a police team with the help of reliable sources set a trap at Kangan Market and 03 accused ladies (names withheld) were apprehended red-handed, while picking pocket of one innocent person namely Bashir Ahmed Mir son of Mangat Mir resident of Hariganiwan. Meanwhile, the trio tried to escape from the spot along with the stolen cash of RS/- 25000, but the police party arrested them tactfully. The stolen money was recovered & seized.

In this regard, a case FIR No. 118/2023 under relevant sections of law stands registered at PS Kangan and further investigation taken up.

The General Public has appreciated & lauded Ganderbal Police for their swift action. Police requests the General public to immediately bring to notice any suspicious activities noticed about such incidents so that culprits can be nabbed effectively in future also.

Police arrests chemist for possessing & supplying contraband substance in Ganderbal

Medical Shop sealed

Ganderbal, October 19: Police in Ganderbal alongwith Executive Magistrate concerned arrested a chemist for possessing and supplying contraband substance to the youth and sealed a medical shop at Wakoora.

In continuation to the investigation of case FIR No. 287/2023 of PS Ganderbal, one accused namely Hilal Ahmad Ganie son of Gh Mohi-ud-Din Ganie resident of Wakoora who had been arrested by Ganderbal Police before some days, confessed that Ganie Medical Shop at Wakoora is supplier of contraband substances to the local youth of the area.

Acting swiftly on the directions of SSP Ganderbal Shri Nikhil Borkar-IPS, Police Party led by Incharge PP Shadipora under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Ganderbal alongwith Executive Magistrate concerned raided Ganie Medical Shop at Wakoora. During search, contraband substance was recovered/seized on the spot and the accused (Chemist) identified as Mehraj-ud-Din Ganie resident of Wakoora was arrested for possessing and supplying the contraband substance to the local youth. Moreover, the Medical Shop was also sealed by the Executive Magistrate 1st Class Wakoora on the spot.

Community members have appreciated the swift action of Police. Police assure community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace & cooperation of the general public is pivotal for eradicating this dreadful menace & its roots.

Swift action by Baramulla Police; Rape accused arrested within hours of complaint

Baramulla, October 2: In a swift and determined response to a distressing incident, Police in Baramulla have successfully apprehended a rape accused within hours after a complaint was filed.
Police Station Kreeri received a written complaint from one girl (name withheld) age about 19 years stating therein that she was raped by her father namely Mohd Rafeeq Mochi son of Abdul Jabbar resident of Kalantra Payeen, Baramulla and is absconding from home.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Kreeri and investigation was initiated.
During the course of investigation, after strenuous efforts the accused person was traced and arrested within hours after the complaint was received. He has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Furthermore, medico-legal formalities of the victim girl have been conducted and further investigation of the case is in progress.
Community members are once again requested to cooperate with police in curbing social crimes in their neighbourhood.

Impersonating as police officer, lady arrested by police in Baramulla

Baramulla, September 02: Police in Baramulla have arrested a woman who was impersonating as a police officer (Sub- Inspector) and recovered police uniform and cash of ₹10,000 from her possession.
On 01/09/2023, Police Station Kunzer received a complaint from one person namely Wasif Hassan of Kunzer stating therein that during a bus journey where he was approached by a woman who identified herself as Ashia, claiming to be a Sub-Inspector currently stationed at Police Station Kunzar. She assured the complainant Mr. Hasan that she had the authority to secure a position for him as a Constable in J&K Police. Lured by the promise of a job opportunity, Mr. Hasan gave ₹10,000/- rupees to the impersonating police officer.
The impersonating officer (Ashia) further recontacted Mr. Hasan on 01/09/23, soliciting an additional amount to expedite the delivery of his appointment order. She promised that this process would be completed within 2 to 3 days. Suspecting deception, Mr. Hasan promptly reported the matter to Police Station Kunzer. Accordingly, a case was registered in police station and investigation was set into motion.
During the course of investigation, Police successfully apprehended the accused person known as Ashia (Fake name), whose real identity has been revealed as Bisma Yousuf Sheikh daughter of Mohd Yousuf Sheikh resident of Tappie Khag. In addition to her apprehension, the investigating team also recovered a police uniform and ₹10,000/- rupees from her possession that had been fraudulently obtained from Mr. Hasan.
Community members are requested not to fall prey in the hands of such fraudulent people and share such information with Police. Our consistent action against anti-social elements shall assure community members that Police has resolved to act tough against such inimical elements.

Police busts gang of burglars in Shopian, stolen property worth lakhs recovered

Shopian, August 28: Police in Shopian have busted a gang of burglars by arresting 06 accused persons involved in about 04 burglary cases. Stolen property worth lakhs have been recovered from their possession.
Police Post Keegam received various complaints regarding burglary with in the jurisdiction in recent past. Keeping in view, SSP Shopian Ms Tanushree-IPS constituted a SIT headed by DySP Hqrs Shopian along with SHO PS Shopian, IC PP Keegam, ASI Ab Rashid and HC Mohd Hussain Dar of Police Post Keegam to crack these burglary cases.
During the course of investigation, the team used technical & human resources through which names of some suspects came to surface. One among them was Waseem Ahmad Wani son of Ab Aziz Wani resident of Ganowpora, who in order to evade arrest had left his home and was changing his location frequently. However, Special investigation team acting on specific input, arrested the said suspect and after thorough questioning, he confessed his involvement along with other accomplice namely Nazir Ahmad Malik son of Ab Rasheed Malik resident of Thairna Keller, Ishfaq Majeed Wani @Isha Dabba son of Ab Majeed Wani resident of Mughalpora Pulwama, Jamsheed Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Sikander Dar resident of Keegam, Mukhtar Ahmad Sheikh son of Gh Rasool Sheikh resident of Argi Check Rajpora Pulwama and Riyaz Ah Wani @Raja son of late Mohd Akbar Wani resident of Loswani Pulwama in the commission of crime.
Accordingly, all the accused were arrested and property worth 08 lakhs approximately including Gold Jewellery, Copper Utensils, Tiller, Motorcycle, Spray Motor, Geyser and Batteries were recovered from their possession.
Moreover, accused namely Nazir Ahmad Malik and Jamsheed Ahmad Dar also disclosed that they committed a burglary in year 2020 regarding which case FIR No 359/2020 stands registered in PS Shopian.
The investigation is still going on.

Police arrests rape accused in Baramulla within hours

Baramulla, August 22: Police in Baramulla have arrested a rape accused within hours after a complaint was filed.
Police Station Baramulla received a written complaint from a minor girl (name withheld) stating therein that she was abducted by one person namely Mohammad Umar Parray (Venture Driver) son of Mohammad Amin Parray resident of Parray Mohalla Sangri and raped her at secluded place in Sangri.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Baramulla and investigation was initiated.
During the course of investigation, officers utilized technical & human sources and after strenuous efforts, traced and arrested the accused person within hours after the complaint was received.
Further medico-legal formalities have been conducted and further investigation of the case is in progress.

Police busts deceptive jeweller in counterfeit gold ornament scam in Pulwama; accused arrested

Pulwama, August 18: In a significant breakthrough against fraudulent activities, Police in Pulwama has successfully arrested a deceptive jeweller in counterfeit gold ornament scam.
Police in Pulwama received a series of complaints against the jeweller namely Sajad Ah Zargar, (operating a gold shop named Diamond Jewellers at AL-Ahmad complex near Shaheed Farooq Chowk Pulwama), allegedly deceived customers with counterfeit gold ornaments and has been engaging in this fraudulent activity for an extended period. Acting swiftly, the accused jeweller involved in the commission of crime was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 210/2023 was registered at Police Station Pulwama, and a thorough investigation has been initiated.
The arrest follows a meticulous investigation into allegations of counterfeit gold ornaments being sold to innocent customers, shedding light on a series of complaints against the accused. This apprehension serves as a stern warning to those involved in fraudulent practices, as J&K Police remains vigilant in ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.

Police arrests gang of drug smugglers including a female in Baramulla; Contraband substance, cash recovered

Baramulla, August 13: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Baramulla have arrested a gang of 05 drug smugglers including a female drug smuggler and recovered contraband substance & cash from their possession.

A police party of Police Station Kunzer at a checkpoint established at Kunzer Baramulla, intercepted a vehicle (Maruti EECO) bearing registration number JK15A-7113 with five persons on board who on noticing the checkpoint tried to evade but the alert party apprehended them tactfully. They have been identified as Adil Ahmad Bhat son of Nazir Ahmad, Umer Mohiuddin Ahanger, both residents of Goom Ahmadpora, Hayat Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Ramzan resident of Kawoosa, Showkat Ahmad Sheikh son of Abdul Majeed & Nargis wife of Showkat Ahmad Sheikh, both residents of Umerabad Srinagar. During search, 530 grams of Charas alongwith cash amount of ₹21,000 (believed to be proceeds of narcotic crime) were recovered from their possession.

They have been arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kunzer and investigations has been initiated.

It is pertinent to mention here that, the gang was actively involved in selling & supplying contraband including Charas among the youth of Kunzer Baramulla, Magam Budgam & Shalteng Srinagar, surfaced during the investigation.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.

Police solves burglary case in Baramulla; Stolen property worth lakhs recovered

Baramulla, August 10: Police in Baramulla have solved a burglary case by arresting an accused person involved in the commission of crime and recovered stolen property worth lakhs from his possession.
On 02/07/2023, Police Station Baramulla received a written complaint from Zahoor Ahmad Bazi of Mohalla Syed Kareem Baramulla stating therein that during intervening night of 1st-2nd July 2023, some unknown burglars barged into his mobile shop and have stolen mobile phones.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Baramulla and investigation was initiated.
During the course of investigation, with the help of technical & human resources, investigating team zeroed in on one suspect identified as Showkat Ahmad Bhat son of Gh Hassan Bhat resident of Mir Sahib Old Town Baramulla.
During questioning, officers learnt about his involvement in the commission of crime. On his disclosure, stolen mobile phones worth 1.5 lakh was recovered from his possession.
Community members have lauded the efforts of police for cracking/solving the case. Our consistent actions shall assure community members that Police have resolved to act tough against individuals involved in any kind of criminal activities.
