DIPR releases 13th Episode of “Inspire Gen Z” with former Indian, international cricketer Suresh Raina

JAMMU, MARCH 26: Adding another inspirational story of the change makers in the “Inspire Gen Z” programme, the 13th episode with the former Indian and international cricketer, Suresh Raina has been released on Department of Information and Public Relation’s (DIPR) all Social Media Handles and its official website.

“Inspire Gen Z” is a digital show created by the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) to engage, entertain and inspire the youth of J&K.

Suresh Raina in a candid interview with the host of the show Rashid Andrabi, has shared his experiences as a cricketer, his journey and emotional connection with Jammu & Kashmir, Suresh Raina was born and brought up in Lucknow but his family belongs to Rainawari area of Kashmir .

In the conversation, Suresh Raina talked about his areas of interest and said that he loves singing, cooking and spending time with the kids. While talking about the bad phase of his life after he got knee injury in 2005, Raina said that the one year of rehab period after my surgery was the toughest part of my cricket life. I remained positive and learnt a lot from my father and successfully came out of that difficult phase. My father was my coach, friend and much more to me, he guided me throughout this difficult time, Raina added.

Calling Jammu & Kashmir as the most beautiful place in the world, Suresh Raina said the hospitality of the people of J&K is excellent and have spent long time in Kashmir with family and friends.

Talking about his writing passion and recently launched book ‘Believe: What Life and Cricket Taught Me’ along with cricket writer Bharat Sundaresan, he said that the motive behind this book was to tell my story to everyone how a small town boy realized his dream of being a successful cricketer and people must learn from my journey. I am really thankful to the people that they liked my book.

As a message to the budding cricketers and other sportspersons, Suresh Raina advised them to only do hard work as there is no shortcut in the life. If you seriously want to achieve your dreams, just follow your passion and believe in yourself, he added.

JKTPO participated in Source India Bangladesh Exhibition by TPCI in Dhaka, Bangladesh

JAMMU, MARCH 25: Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO) participated Source India Bangladesh 2023 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The Exhibition was organized by Trade Promotion Council of India (TPCI) with support of Department of Commerce, Govt. of India.

The event was inaugurated by Pratik Negi, First Secretary, Economic & Commerce, High Commission of India, Dhaka in presence of Md. Anowar Hossain-General Secretary, Bangladesh Food Stuffs Import & Suppliers Association (BAFISA) and Abul Kalam Azad -Secretary General, Bangladesh Chemical Importers & Merchant Association.

This event provided the gateway to the Food Processing Companies, Basic Chemical, Dyes and Pigments, Edible Chemicals  sector of India to enter the Bangladesh market. The event was a perfect B2B platform for our manufacturers to showcase their products under one roof in the Bangladesh Market. This event has provided an interactive platform for our delegates to generate business through product displays, direct interaction with the Buyers.

JKTPO in collaboration with TPCI, facilitated the participation of 09 entrepreneurs of J&K from Agro and  Food Processing industry for the event  from J&K. The J&K exhibitors received very good response from the buyers and around 500+ business lead were generated by them in the event. Products like Saffron, Canned Cherries, Honey, Fresh Fruits, Walnuts, Dry fruits, Aromatic oils,  etc received very good response from the buyers.

GDC Ramgarh organises national level conference on sustainable development, women empowerment

SAMBA, MARCH 25: Government Degree College Ramgarh and the Indian Science Congress Association organized a national conference on “Science and Technology in Sustainable Development with Women Empowerment” to celebrate India’s G20 Presidency. The conference focused on the importance of sustainable development and women’s empowerment, and the role of science and technology in achieving these goals.

The speakers discussed the significance of women’s participation in all areas of modern society, the role of National Education Policy 2020 in promoting women’s development, and the issue of crime against women and the role of the police in addressing it.

The conference was attended by over 60 participants from various institutions, and it provided a platform for sharing knowledge and experiences on the use of science and technology to promote sustainable development and women’s empowerment. Additionally, the conference also recognized the contributions of women to entrepreneurship and employability.

Police solves 02 burglary cases in Baramulla; Stolen properties recovered

Baramulla, March 25: Police have solved 02 burglary cases in Baramulla and arrested the accused persons involved in the commission of crime. Besides, recovered stolen properties from their possession.

On 24/03/2023, Police Station Kreeri received a complaint from Bashir Ahmad Wani son of Gh Hassan Wani resident of Kreeri Baramulla stating therein that during Friday prayers, some unknown burglars have entered his shop and stole cash of about ₹30,000/-.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Kreeri and investigation was initiated.

During the course of investigation, taking help of technical and human resources, names of some suspects surfaced. Among the suspects, Syed Zaffar Shah son of Syed Muzaffar Shah resident of Yakhmanpora Pattan was called for questioning. During questioning, he confessed the crime and, on his disclosure, stolen cash was recovered.

Meanwhile in another similar incident, a police party of PP Palhallan received a complaint on 23/12/2022 from one Bashir Ahmad Yatoo son of Gh Mohd Yatoo resident of Yadipora Pattan stating therein that during intervening night of 22-23/12/2022, some unknown burglars broke open the lock of his shop and stole tea bags, cigarette boxes etc.

Regarding the incident, a case vide FIR No. 340/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered and investigation was initiated.

During the course of investigation, with the help of technical and human resources, investigating officers zeroed in on one suspect identified as Faizan Ahmad Gojri @Pita son of Mohd Ramzan Gojri resident of Gojri Mohalla Palhallan. During questioning, officers learnt about his involvement in the commission of crime. On his disclosure, stolen property was recovered.

Both the accused have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody.

Community members have lauded the efforts of police for cracking/solving the cases. Our consistent actions shall assure community members that Police have resolved to act tough against individuals involved in any kind of criminal activities.

Div com chairs 14th board meeting of Jammu Smart City Limited

Accords sanction to tentative route plan for plying electric buses

JAMMU, MARCH 23: Divisional Commissioner and Chairman of the Board of Directors for Jammu Smart City Limited, Ramesh Kumar, along with Additional Director General of Police Mukesh Singh, chaired the 14th board meeting here today.  

At the start of the meeting, Commissioner JMC & Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL), Rahul Yadav gave a detailed presentation on the project and listed agenda points for discussion. 

The Div Com expressed satisfaction with the pace of project execution by JSCL and directed officials to maintain synergy and complete other projects within the stipulated time frame.

The chair was informed that JSCL has approved necessary details for electric buses and depot design, specifications and colour schemes as per contract conditions. Service provider Tata Motors has started production of a prototype e-bus which will be inspected by JSCL upon invitation.

The Div Com emphasised the need to expedite and operationalise electric buses. The BoD also approved a tentative plan for routes for electric buses in Jammu. Seven intra-city and five inter-city routes have been identified. The intra-city routes include Jammu Railway Station to Panjtirthi while inter-city routes include Jammu Airport/Railway Station to Katra helipad.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on ambitious projects such as the Integrated Command Control Center (ICCC), Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) and WebGIS projects. The board was informed that JSCL may consider extending the terms of the cloud-based data centre for 12 months at the same rates as in the existing contract agreement. The board decided to explore more options and choose a financially stable option.

The Board of Directors also approved the retendering of two Smart City projects: the Smart Toilet Project and IT Smart Parking Project. Both projects were terminated by Jammu Municipal Corporation due to discrepancies. The board also approved a new logo for Jammu Smart City Limited.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Avny Lavasa; Director Tourism, Jammu, Vivekanand Rai; Vice Chairman, Jammu Development Authority (JDA) Pankaj Magotra, ACEO, JSCL Rakesh Gupta; Director School Education Jammu, Dr Ravi Shankar and SSP Jammu Chandan Kohli while Chief Executive Officer, Mass Rapid Transit Corporation (MRTC), Jammu Ankita Kar and DD, CPWD, Nominee Director, MoUHA joined the meeting online.

Night Bus service in Srinagar: Div Com Kashmir directs for immediate induction of buses on routes

Instructs identification of routes & framing of time schedule by today

Srinagar, March 23: In a first, Night Bus Service to start in Srinagar on different routes to facilitate general public.

In this regard, the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri today convened a meeting of officers to chalk out plan for induction of SRTC Bus for night transport service.

The meeting was attended by Regional Transport Officer, Kashmir; Senior Superintendent of  Traffic Police, City; General Manager JKSRTC and other officers.

Addressing the officers, Div Com directed JK SRTC to spare more than fourteen busses which shall  run on different routes of Srinagar to facilitate general public after dusk when public transport usually  remains unavailable to commuters.

Div Com also directed RTO Kashmir to identify routes to ply SRTC buses  besides he instructed him to frame the time schedule simultaneously and submit same by today.

Also, Div Com instructed concerned Smart City officer to pace up the ongoing works  and remove debris and material from roads to avoid bottleneck obstacles.

During the meeting, it was informed that the bus service will be available  upto 10 PM in night.

JAMMU, MARCH 22: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha felicitated and interacted with players participating in 84th National & Inter State Table Tennis Championship at Gymnasium Hall, University of Jammu, today.

The Lt Governor expressed immense pride in the accomplishments of sportspersons at national and international arena.

We truly admire the outstanding skills, courage, sacrifice and dedication of our sportspersons and committed to put the needs of the players first, added the Lt Governor.

“Big change always starts with a small step, this is what we learn from the sports. The energy of players, glory earned on the field is giving new impetus to development and our Sportspersons are playing a major role in social transformation & social integration”, said the Lt Governor.

The Lt Governor shared the milestones achieved in transforming the sporting ecosystem in Jammu Kashmir.

We have been successful in providing state of the art infrastructure, facilities, coaching and opportunities to the young sportspersons of J&K to prove their mettle, he added.

The Lt Governor asked the young table tennis players to take inspiration from the likes of Sharath Kamal, Mouma Das and Manika Batra and bring laurels to the country in international championships.

“Don’t stop when you are tired. Stop when you are done. I call upon all the players to compete with the spirit of sportsmanship. Your aim should give new enthusiasm, new identity to the youth, and hope to the society and the nation,” said the Lt Governor.

The Lt Governor said the presence of Arjuna Awardees, Khel Ratna & Dronacharya Awardees will surely raise the morale and confidence of the other players participating in the championship.

Sh Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to Lt Governor and  Sh Sarmad Hafeez, Secretary Youth Services and Sports also spoke on the occasion and enumerated the sports facilities and infrastructure developed in the last two years in J&K UT.

Around 900 players from across the country are participating in the championship.

Prof Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu; Sh Mukesh Singh, ADGP Jammu: Ms Nuzhat Gul, Secretary J&K Sports Council; members of Table Tennis federation, and  prominent sports personalities were present on the occasion.

T-20 cricket tournament concludes in Awantipora; Mantaqi Sports Awantipora emerged as winners

Awantipora, March 22: T-20 cricket tournament which was organised by Police in Awantipora under the aegis of Civic Action Programme (CAP) at Sports Stadium Charligund, culminated today with a colourful closing ceremony after the final match of the tournament was played.

DIG SKR Shri Rayees Mohammad Bhat-IPS was the Chief Guest on the occasion. SSP Awantipora Shri Ajaz Ahmed Zargar-JKPS, DySP DAR Awantipora, SDPO Awantipora, SHO Awantipora and other officers attended the closing ceremony.

The final match of the T-20 cricket tournament was played between United Club Gadhikhal & Mantaqi Sports Awantipora in which Mantaqi Sports Awantipora emerged as winner of the tournament.

Notably, the tournament was played on knock-out basis. Sixteen teams from different areas of Police District Awantipora participated in the tournament with great enthusiasm, passion and valour.

While speaking on occasion, DIG SKR said that J&K Police has always been on the forefront in providing platform to youth and guide them to follow their goals by organizing different events across J&K.

DIG SKR also present trophies to winner and runner up teams. Both the teams were awarded with Trophies, Cash Prize of ₹25,000/- and ₹10,000/- respectively. Moreover, Man of the Match award was given to Adil Ahmad and Man of the Series award was given to Malik Jasim.

Later, SSP Awantipora thanked the participating teams for their sportsmanship and enthusiasm during the tournament. He also presents a trophy to DIG SKR Anantnag as a token of love and thanked him for gracing the closing ceremony & encouraging the youth towards sports activities.

CUK holds workshop on ‘Green Envt, Climate Change and Sustainability’

G-20 University Connect

Ganderbal, Mar 21: Department of Politics and Governance, Central University of Kashmir (CUK) in collaboration with Mool Sustainability Research and Training Center organized a one-day workshop on Green Environment, Climate Change and Sustainability under auspices of G-20 University Connect at Sagg-eco Campus here Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Prof. Dr Khalid Wasim Hassan introduced the students with the relevance of G-20 Presidency of India and the importance of ‘Green Environment and Sustainability’ for the region of South Asia. He emphasized the role that academia, particularly students, have to play towards adapting the environment, friendly livelihoods, profession and sensitizing the society about the impact of climate change in the region. He also introduced the students to the working and functioning of MOOL.
In the beginning, the students were taken for the short tour of sagg-eco campus where Dr Shaheena and Ms Lubna (senior members of MOOL) briefed them about the eco-friendly natural farming techniques and traditional techniques used in construction of the Sagg campus.
In the second session, founder MOOL, Mr. Fayaz Ahmad Dar gave a presentation about the idea behind the concept of Green environment and sustainable development in the context of Kashmir. He educated the students about the idea of sustainable living and how it is necessary in current times. He emphasized that youth can take important steps to sensitize larger society with the idea of aligning with nature. Mr. Fayaz threw light on the concept of Ecological Entrepreneurship and how it can help in minimizing the problem of unemployment. Later the students interacted with the employees of the Mool.

Lt Governor’s Navratri Greetings

Navratri symbolises the spiritual joy and the triumph of good over evil. It is an occasion to pray for strength, courage, determination and to promote goodwill, brotherhood, peace, harmony and to remind ourselves of our rich spiritual heritage, said the Lt Governor.

“May Navratri festivities bring peace, happiness, prosperity and a brighter future to all,” the Lt Governor prayed.
