SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 4: Sri Pratap College Srinagar has the distinction of being one of the oldest institutions of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir. The college has recently been accredited with grade A+ by the NAAC.
The admission process for various PG and UG (NEP-2020) programs under CUET and NON-CUET quota is under process at the Sri Pratap College Sri Pratap College. In this connection, the eligible candidates can get themselves admitted in various UG/PG courses against available seats. The left out students have a unique opportunity through spot admission to participate in the admission process.
The desirous UG candidates can participate in the spot round from 05th September 2023 through https://jkadmission.samarth.ac.in/ .Furthermore eligible PG candidates are being admitted through https://www.cusrinagar.edu.in/NEP/ .
The candidates are advised to go through the eligibility conditions of the courses available on Cluster University Srinagar website https://www.cusrinagar.edu.in/ and check admission notifications.
The admission to both the programs will be strictly as per Cluster University Srinagar Guidelines. Only students who have sought admission and subsequently appeared in CUET-2023 asked to attended counseling session
SRINAGAR, AUGUST 18: Students who have sought admission to various programs at Amar Singh College and appeared in CUET 2023 conducted by National Testing Authority are being informed that first batch of 1262 students have been allotted for admission process from 19th to 21st August 2023.
Inorder to facilitate their admission, a proper counselling schedule has been rolled out by the college and same stands notified on college website as well as through print and electronic media.
Students are advised to attend the counselling cum admission strictly as per the pre-notified schedule according to which around 200 students are being called in morning and evening session each on 19th, 21st and 22nd August 2023. The venue is Taseer Hall of college and applicants are advised to bring all certificates as per checklist given in the Counselling cum Admission notification on college website.
No student will be entertained for document verification and admission outside the allocated time and date window.
For non CUET applicants a separate notification will be issued shortly.
SRINAGAR, AUGUST 10: The last date of admission for admission to Undergraduate Programmes for first Semester (1st Sem) of B.A/B.Sc/B.Com/ BBA and other courses is 11th of August 2023. A notice issued by Higher Education Department in this regard reads, “It is hereby notified for information of all the concerned that the last date of admission to Undergraduate Programmes for Semester 1” of B.A/B.Sc/B.Com/ BBA etc in all the Government Degree Colleges (Summer/Winter Zone) of UT of J&K affiliated to the University of Jammu/ Kashmir, Cluster University of Jammu/ Srinagar, as well as autonomous colleges viz. Govt. College for Women, Parade Ground Jammu, Islamia College of Science and Commerce, Srinagar and Govt. Degree College, Baramulla is 11th of August, 2023 midnight. SRINAGAR, AUGUST 09: In connection with the weeklong celebrations of International Youth Day, Red Ribbon Club of the college in collaboration with the J&KAIDS Control Society today organized a ‘Walkathon’.
Principal of the college, Prof. Sheikh Ajaz Bashir flagged-off the rally from Amar Singh College, campus in presence of Principal of City Colleges, Nodal Officers, RRC and other faculty of the college.
Apart from the students and faculty of the host college, Faculty and students from city colleges participated in the walkathon.
The rally comprising hundreds of students holding play cards in their hands about the HIV/AIDS awareness covered a distance of around 4 kms and went through the heart of the city Lal Chowk, culminating at Joggers ParkRajbagh.
The main motto of the walkathon was to bring awareness among the youth in particular and masses in general about the ill effects of deadly disease HIV/AIDS and the problems faced by youth.
Earlier on the inaugural day of International Youth Day on August 08, 2023, the RRC organized inter-college Poster making and Reel Making competitions about HIV/AIDS. A large number of students representing the city colleges participated in the respective competitions.
It is worth mentioning here that the series of events started from August 08, 2023 and shall culminate with the valedictory function on August 12, 2023.
SRINAGAR, AUGUST 06: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Jammu and Kashmir in collaboration with Legal Literacy Club, Amar Singh College, Srinagar, observed the “Day of Resolution for Freedom from Corruption” under the theme “Corruption Free Jammu & Kashmir” as a part of the Vigilance Awareness initiative of J&K Government, at Amar Singh College, Srinagar.
This commemorative event, marked by unwavering commitment and dedication, signifies a significant milestone in the UT’s journey towards a transparent and corruption-free society. This day serves as a clarion call for individuals, organizations, and communities to unite against corruption and embrace a path of honesty, transparency, and ethical conduct.
Prof. Sheikh Ajaz Bashir, Nodal Officer Kashmir Division Colleges and Principal, Amar Singh College in his address said that the Government of J&K has been steadfast in its pursuit of creating a corruption-free governing system through various initiatives, policies, and reforms. He apprised the audience about the various steps taken by the college to combat any kind of ill doing and wrong practice in the functioning of the college.
Prof Ajaz Bashir maintained that corruption is a termite which is eating our vitals and we need to fight it collectively. He impressed upon students to visit his office anytime for any problem, discrimination or any case of Nepotism or favoritism in college.
Superintendent of Police, ACB, Srinagar, Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Wani highlighted various initiatives that Anti Corruption Bureau has taken to combat the menace of corruption and ensuring accountability in Jammu & Kashmir.
In his address, he highlighted various laws and provisions that empower the ACB to investigate and prosecute corrupt practices effectively. Emphasizing the importance of upholding the rule of law and maintaining the integrity of public institutions, he enjoined upon the students and the Faculty to extend their cooperation in eradicating corruption from the society.
Prof. Tafazul Hussain, Department of Political Science, also spoke on the occasion and stressed how corruption works in the society and the need to change the perception of the people.
Other senior officers and officials of Anti Corruption Bureau present on the occasion spoke at length about the empowerment that has come in the hands of citizens to fight the menace of corruption and ACB is a call, tweet or a whatsapp communication away from you for being a whistle blower against corruption.
The audience actively participated in the question-answer session and shared their experiences and vowed to adopt a zero-tolerance approach towards corruption and strive to become role models in promoting integrity and accountability within their respective spheres of influence.
They pledged that collective commitment reflects the strong determination to safeguard public resources, foster good governance, and build a corruption-resistant environment.
Ganderbal, July 20: The candidates who appeared in CUET-2023 and have preferred Central University of Kashmir, Ganderbal, for admission to Under-Graduate programmes in integrated BA LLB, B.Sc/M.Sc Physics, B.Sc/M.Sc Zoology, B.Sc/M.Sc Mathematics and B.Sc/M.Sc. SRINAGAR, JULY 15: Principal Secretary Education , Alok Kumar today visited Amar Singh College and took stock of functioning of the college.
The Principal Secretary during his visit also inaugurated new canteen block of college in presence of Special Secretary, Higher Education Department, Dr. Ravi Shankar Sharma; Principal Amar Singh College, Dr. Sheikh Ajaz Bashir; Vice Chairman Gandhi Global Family, Padma, S.P.Verma and staff members of college. The new canteen block has been constructed at the cost of Rs. 1.25 Cr and is equipped with the latest facilities for the staff and students with special provisions for specially abled persons.

Jammu University to launch innovative program ‘Design Your Degree’
SRINAGAR, JULY 12: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha chaired the meeting of J&K Higher Education Council at Raj Bhawan, today.
The meeting deliberated on a range of themes like multidisciplinary education, ecosystem for research and innovation, Indian philosophy and languages, and project based learning mode, combined with needs and challenges of society.

The Lt Governor said, ‘Design Your Degree’ is one of the cornerstones of the National Education Policy-2020. It will promote applicative learning, skill enhancement aligned with needs of 21st Century and provide unique opportunity to students to shape their curriculum, he added.
Sharing the ongoing transformational journey of education sector in J&K UT, the Lt Governor said the rapid advancements in education and other sectors and the evolving needs and aspirations of the society requires contribution of learning in classrooms to changes and new solutions.
“Journey of our Amrit Kaal will not be about only degree but also about skills and values. No classroom can afford to teach subjects that are irrelevant in today’s context,” the Lt Governor said.
He emphasized on identifying new sectors of employment and increasing interaction with leading academicians. Research should reflect the reality of accelerated transformation, he added.
“5Cs- Critical evaluation is must for future strategy. Critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity, curiosity will build equitable and vibrant knowledge society”, the Lt Governor observed.
The Lt Governor impressed on the Universities to carry out critical evaluation and identify the strength and weakness. This will help to formulate suitable strategy to achieve future goals, he added.
Multi-disciplinary projects need to be promoted to create vibrant environment for the youth that will engage them on Global, Economic, Social, Cultural and Technical Issues and guide them according to the changes taking place across the globe, he said.
The Lt Governor said that there are still many walls that separate the academic world and the real world. Until and unless we bring down those walls, until the academic world and the real world are seen as one and the same, our task will be incomplete, he added.
He advised the Higher Education Council to explore various ways that can prove to be dividends for the higher education ecosystem of J&K UT.
He further advised on strengthening the alumni network; facilitating student and faculty exchange programmes and improving rankings of the Universities and other Higher Educational Institutions.
We should study successful models of other universities like Delhi University for reforms in examination, the Lt Governor said.

Srinagar, July 6: The teaching fraternity of the University of Kashmir on Thursday welcomed the UT administration’s historic decision to enhance the retirement age of University professors to 65 years as per the UGC guidelines. In a statement, the faculty members across University’s main and satellite campuses expressed their deep gratitude to the Honourable LG (Honorable Chancellor, University of Kashmir), Shri Manoj Sinha, for taking the historic decision of increasing the retirement age and thus fulfilling the long-pending demand of the University professors.
