Baramulla, June 03: Police in Baramulla have solved a burglary case by arresting 02 accused persons involved in the commission of crime besides, recovered stolen cash from their possession.
On 01/06/2023, Police Post Wagoora received a complaint from Abdul Majeed Reshi son of Asadullah Reshi resident of Kalantra Payeen Wagoora stating therein that some unknown burglars barged into his shop (JK Bank Khidmat Centre) when he had gone for lunch and stole cash amounting ₹97,000/- from the shop.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Kreeri and investigation was initiated.
During the course of investigation, officers with the help of technical and human resources, zeroed in on two persons identified as Ghulam Mustafa Sofi son of Mohd Ibrahim Sofi & Shabir Ahmad Bhat son of Assadullah Bhat, both residents of Diver Yakhmanpora Pattan.
During questioning, both the accused persons confessed their involvement in the commission of crime and on their disclosure, stolen cash was recovered. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Terms the interaction as significant milestone in promotion of trade, exports
SRINAGAR, JUNE 02: India’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan, today had an extensive interactive session with industry and trade associations of Kashmir to discuss and plan strategies towards exploring business opportunities between the regions.
The session, organized by Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO), was aimed at providing a platform to foster stronger economic ties and explore mutually beneficial trade opportunities.

Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan, while speaking on the occasion, emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral trade between UT of J&K and Saudi Arabia. He acknowledged the rich cultural heritage and entrepreneurial spirit of Kashmir and expressed his admiration for region’s contribution towards nation’s economy. He observed that unique and niche products of J&K have lot of potential as far as the markets of Saudi Arabia are concerned.

He assured the participants that the Indian government is continuously working hard towards creating a conducive business environment for all to flourish their businesses. He added that necessary support is being extended for trade and investment activities especially for export of GI tagged products of Jammu & Kashmir. SRINAGAR, JUNE 02: Chief Secretary, Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta today stressed on extending the facility of online appointments with doctors in the health institutions of J&K. He impressed on the health officers to work for making this service available to public within a month’s time.
Dr Mehta was speaking in the 12th Governing Body meeting of National Health Mission (NHM) attended by Principal Secretary, Jal Shakti; Commissioner Secretary, RDD; Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare; Secretary, Health; MD, NHM; Principal, GMC Srinagar/Jammu; Director, MCH&I; Director Health, Kashmir/Jammu; Director, Ayush besides others.
Dr Mehta maintained that the prior online appointments to patients are given in many premier hospitals in the country and the Department needs to bring their own system in sync with that to make the process of visiting a Hospital easier. He told them to adopt the simplest and efficient system available.
Chief Secretary also enjoined upon the officers to digitize the patient history and other legacy data so that the same is accessible round the clock. He said that the convergence of data from Health Care Institutions, Anganwadi centres and Educational Institutions could make a database inclusive of all health details from birth till date for each person. He urged them to make it an objective to ensure 100% digitization of health records of all the individuals here in the UT.
On the occasion both the Secretary Health, Bhupinder Kumar and MD, NHM, Ayushi Sudan gave a detailed overview of the functioning of the Department especially the National Health Mission (NHM), J&K. It was given out that sufficient number of Critical Care Ambulances have been deployed across the health facilities of J&K and integrated with 108 call centre for providing 24×7 hassle-free services to people.
Moreover it was given out that the utilization of funds from the last 5 years from 2018-19 has seen progressive growth with each passing year. It was revealed that out of Rs 671.75 Cr amount of funds available in the year 2018-19, the percentage of utilization was 72%. The same increased to Rs 900.64 Cr in 2022-23 with percentage of utilization taking a quantum leap to reach 98.68% for the previous financial year.
The Governing Body discussed the proposals of the NHM to ratify State Programme Implementation Programme (SPIP) to the tune of Rs 1441.60 Cr for FY 2023-24, procurement of Covid essential Diagnostic & Drugs, Implementation of IT interventions like HMIS (e-SAHAJ) from District Hospitals and CHCs to Tertiary Care Hospitals. It also discussed maternity leave in favour of contractual female employees as per the existing labour laws and other HR related issues for making the functioning of the mission smooth and efficient.
JAMMU, MAY 30: The 5th Faizal Abbas Memorial Volley ball Tournament, which commenced on 22nd May, 2023 at Government Polytechnic College, Jammu concluded here today.
Principal Secretary, Skill Development Department, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon was the chief guest on the concluding ceremony while Director Skill Development Department, Sudershan Kumar, was the guest of honour.
Principal, Government Polytechnic College, Engineer Arun Bangotra highlighted that the volleyball tournament is being organized since 2016 in memory of one of the finest volleyball players of the college Late Faizal Abbas Ashoor. He also highlighted other activities being undertaken by the Sports wing during the current session.
The summit clash for the title of 5thFaizal Abbas Memorial Volleyball tournament was held between Automobile Engineering and Electrical Engineering in which Electrical Department knocked down Automobile Engineering 2-1 (25,13), 25-17, 25-19 and lifted the trophy.
Earlier, Automobile Engineering won against Mechanical Engineering by 2-0 (25-12, 25-17) in the first 1st and in the 2nd semifinal Electrical Engineering were victorious over Computer Engineering by 2-1 (25-18, 25-19, 25-20).

BUDGAM, May 30: In response to a distressing incident reported on 29th May 2023, involving an act of sexual harassment against a young girl (identity withheld), Budgam police today arrested the accused involved in the commission of crime. The brave victim approached Soibug Police Post on the aforementioned date at 22:00 hours to file a written complaint detailing the events that unfolded.
According to the victim’s statement, on 25th May 2023, around 10 AM, she left for her coaching classes in Budgam. She accepted a lift from an unknown vehicle near Soibugh along her journey. Unfortunately, during the course of the trip, the driver subjected her to sexual harassment. In a fortunate turn of events, she managed to escape, albeit leaving behind her mobile phone and school bag inside the vehicle.
Taking immediate cognizance of the matter, Budgam Police immediately began investigating the incident thoroughly. Through diligent efforts and resourceful investigative work, the accused individual involved in this deplorable act has been identified as Saqib Ahmad Dar, a resident of Narkara Budgam. He was promptly apprehended and the vehicle bearing registration number JK01N 5711, a Verna model involved in the incident was also seized.
Police is committed to ensure the safety and security of all individuals, particularly women and children. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of reporting such crimes promptly, allowing law enforcement agencies to take swift action and bring the perpetrators to justice. Ganderbal, May 30: Under the theme “Our Planet: Our Environment and Our campus”, Mass Mobilization On Mission LiFE”, Departments of Management Studies and Politics and Governance in collaboration with the Directorate of Student’s Welfare (DSW) organized a cycle-race for the students here Tuesday morning.
Dean School of Business Studies, Prof. Fayaz Ahmad Nikka, flagged off the race from Green Campus to Tulmulla Campus. As many as 20 students participated in the event. Mubashir Riyaz from the Department of Physics bagged the top slot and Sameer Makhdoomi from the department of IT bagged the second position. Akhilesh from the department of Education won the third spot.
Speaking on the occasion, Dean School of Business Studies, Prof. Fayaz Ahmad Nikka, congratulated the winners on achieving the feat and hailed all the students for participating in the competition. He said, “Cycling has huge health benefits and the daily routine improves mobility, coordination, heart health, and reduces weight.” He said that regular cycling can lessen mental health disorders, including depression, tension, and anxiety and the individuals can learn attentiveness and mindfulness by keeping their eyes on the road.

Directs for providing good quality of lodging & boarding facilities
SRINAGAR, MAY 30: The Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri on Tuesday visited Hajj House Bemina to take first hand appraisal of arrangements and facilities made for the convenience of pilgrims.
On the occasion, Div Com was briefed by Chairman J&K Haj Committee, Abdul Salam about the arrangements made by the Administration to ensure proper and good quality facilities for Hajj pilgrims.
During the visit, Div Com took the round of all the rooms and halls of Hajj House to inspect the sanitation, cleanliness besides boarding and lodging facilities.
He directed the Chairman J&K Haj Committee to ensure good quality of food and other services to pilgrims besides instructing the concerned to regularly change bed sheets.
The Div Com also held a brief meeting with the officers and officials of the Hajj House and issued a slew of directions for maintaining cleanliness within the premises, ensuring functioning of drinking water points, and electric connectivity besides decoration of Hajj House.
He stressed on close coordination and synergy with other departments for smooth and hassle free arrangements to pilgrims of Hajj-2023.
Srinagar, May 29: The first-ever sitting volleyball match was organised by the Directorate of Physical Education and Sports (DPES), University of Kashmir, at the main campus on Monday.
Para-players from different parts of Kashmir participated in the match, which was held on directions of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Nilofer Khan, who has instructed for organising various sports activities for specially-abled persons on a regular basis.
The Directorate is mulling organising several inter-college para events, alongside regular inter-college sports activities, to provide equal opportunities to specially-abled students to showcase their talent.
In a three-set match, team Green defeated team Red by 2 sets to 1. The scores were: 23-25, 25-21 and 26-24.
Director DPES, Dr Mussavir Ahmed, distributed the prizes among the players and said the University has lined up various sports events for specially-abled players in its schedule of sports activities.
Such events will be a regular feature across the University’s campuses, he said.
The para-players expressed their gratitude to the organisers, especially Vice-Chancellor, for providing them a platform and requested the VC to organise more such events in future.
SRINAGAR, MAY 29: The Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri today convened a meeting to review the power supply scenario along the Baltal axis for the Shri Amarnath Yatra Ji, 2023. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shyambir, Chief Engineer KPDCL, officers of BEACON and others. The meeting was apprised by CE KPDCL that the Power Cable along the axis has got damaged due to the road widening of track by BEACON which is likely to affect the power supply from Grid Station. On the Occasion, Div Com exhorted all the officers particularly CE KPDCL to make alternative arrangements immediately to light the route so that yatries and service providers do not face any problem. Div Com further instructed him to make DG sets available in a large number to ensure lights remain functional with constant power support. He also directed BEACON to halt the expansion work to avoid further damage to Electric cables and instructed them to install the wire mesh to protect the route and remove the loose soil and rocks.
